When you arrive. Not when you buy.

Plans start counting once your phone connects to a network at your destination, so you can buy ahead of your trip without losing time. Install at home on Wi-Fi, fly, land, switch your data line to Nimbus. Plans auto-activate after 30 days if you haven't used them.
