Calls and messaging: WhatsApp, iMessage, and your home line

iMessage and WhatsApp - work normally. They use data, and your data is Nimbus. FaceTime - same, works over data. Regular phone calls and SMS - use your home line. Nimbus is data-only, like most travel eSIMs.

If you need to make local calls in your destination, use WhatsApp, FaceTime, or any VoIP app. They run over your Nimbus data - no separate call charges, just the data they use.

Heads up on home-carrier roaming charges. Even when Nimbus is your data line, your home line is still registered to local networks for calls and SMS. Receiving an SMS or a call abroad on your home number can trigger roaming charges from your home carrier. If you want zero risk of those, set your home line to "no data, no roaming" in your phone's settings, and tell people to reach you on WhatsApp.
